We ensure all data gathering and processing activities are carried out in compliance with legal requirements and with our organizational values and principles. The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which aims to strengthen data protection for everyone in the EU, came into force as the new data protection framework on 25th May 2018 and introduced changes in relation to the way that organizations based in the EU, including Shatterbox.ie, collect, store, and use personal data. Who we are

Shatterbox.ie is a community organization that provides a wide range of services with the aim of combating the effects of addiction and drug use and supporting people on awareness, information, reducing harm, prevention, training, and employment to the LGBTQIA+ and Neurodivergent community

We work closely with the community to create awareness of drug misuse issues and help the community respond to the problem. If you, a friend, or a family member have a drug or addiction problem and are looking to access support and services that can help, we welcome you to contact us for positive and non-judgmental support towards rehabilitation. We are a 'data controller' and we are responsible for and control the processing of your personal information.

If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your name, email, and organization to ensure we provide you with the right information. All subscriptions can be canceled at any time by clicking unsubscribe. If you request information about one of our services or projects by phone, social media, website, or in the contact us section, we collect this information to make sure you receive the help you need.

Current Members and those who have expressed an interest in our work, as well as those who have contacted Shatterbox.ie with a view to joining through an inquiry: These are supporters of our mission who have demonstrated an interest in our work by contacting us, for example, to request information about one of our campaigns, events, or services.

Supporters, interested organizations, and professionals may demonstrate their support in various ways. We will review and update these categories and timescales on a rolling basis to ensure that, as times and needs change, we continue to serve our supporters and customers in the best way possible.

Legal basis for using your information

We process all personal data lawfully, fairly, and in a transparent manner. We take a personalized approach to communications and hearing from us. We adhere to the relevant GDPR articles in relation to processing your data. We believe that members, supporters, and interested parties of Shatterbox.ie are connected to the outcomes and activities of the organization. Those who have visited our website and submitted information to us are generally interested in becoming drug-free and the associated information and campaigns around this issue. As such, we think you are content for us to keep and use your personal information for the lengths of time specified.

If you do not wish us to follow these general guidelines, please contact us and let us know. We will contact you from time to time with information and updates about our campaigns and how your support can and is helping people who are living with addiction. We will also contact you about ways that you might like to get involved or support us further.

This may be by email or telephone, according to your preferences. We will also continue to ask whether you are still happy to hear from us and in which ways.

Emails

Some emails that we send have no tracking information, for example, invoices for services that we have received. For marketing and advocacy emails, we can track, at an individual level, whether the user has opened and clicked on the email.

We do this to learn more about the kind of information that our supporters like to hear from us. We do not use this information at a personal level. Rather, we use it to understand open and click rates on our emails to improve them. If you want to be sure that none of your email activity is tracked, you may wish to opt-out of our emails, which you can do via the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email we send.
